The mission of Central High School is to instruct students in practical knowledge, foster positive attitudes, encourage commendable behaviors and promote opportunities in order for students to realize their potential to thrive in a global technological society.
Central High School is located in Providence, Rhode Island. The head principal at this school is John Hunt, while the assistant principal is Guy Alba. Central High School has 1236 total students. 278 students make up the twelfth grade, making it the least amount of students compared to the ninth, tenth and eleventh grades. This school maintains a student to teacher ratio of 18:1. There is a not a whole wide range of diversity at this school. The makeup of the student body is predominantly Hispanic, black and white students. Currently, the graduation rate is averaged to be around 82 percent. Aside from the impressive reviews Central has gotten about their mass reconstruction, parents and even students are leaving noticeably enthusiastic reviews about the education system Central High School has to offer. Parents are proud to send their kids to this school, because of the well known academic programs. When it comes to the students, they are proud to be a member of this high schools community. They have goals to change the negative persona this school has, and they want it to become better and better with each entering grade.

District Summary
The New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) is a test administered annually to children in Rhode Island schools that receive public education funding. This tests challenges students Math, Reading, Writing and Science skills. According to my data, the numbers are shockingly low in the Providence district. Only 4 percent of 11th graders were at or above the math level in the passing year. When comparing data, Barrington's numbers are very high. They had 73 percent of students at or above the math level. In the passing year as well, only 44 percent of Providence students were at or above the Reading level. While Barrington had 95 percent of their students at the reading level. These numbers may result from the lack of teachers. In this district there is a teacher-student ratio of 1:15. On the other hand Barrington has a ratio of 1:12. This may be the reason why there are exceeding our numbers. In Rhode Island 43 percent of students are eligible for subsidized lunch. While in the Providence district, a large total of 83 percent of students are eligible for these lunches. Yet again, Barrington's numbers are extremely lower, showing that only 4 percent need subsidized lunches. The number of incidents in the Providence district is unbelievably high. 3,157 incidents in the past year. While Barrington shows only 85 reports of incidents. That number is way to high for one district, these numbers need to be lowered as soon as possible.
School Analysis
Not only were our NECAP numbers low, but the SAT exam averages are just about the same. Our numbers are greatly lower than Barringtons, and just about the same with Central Falls. Central High School had a score average of 372 on the Math section of the SAT's. The reading average was not any better, with a score of 370, and a writing average of 365. These numbers are definitely not where they need to be. Maybe our students are not performing properly because they are not coming to school everyday like they should. The attendance rate in the passing year shows that Central High School has an attendance rate of 84 percent. Barrington's numbers show a an average of 96 percent. 60 percent of Central's students show chronic absenteeism, while Barrington shows only five percent. Lastly, in the past year only 66.5 percent of Central High School students graduated. While 24.6 percent dropped out. These numbers are not where they should be whatsoever.

Conclusion
Central High School seems to be a mediocre school for high school students in Providence. According to this data, it shows that Central is clearly failing in categories that it should be excelling in. They continuously are beaten by Barrington and stick out with their low test scores. Not only are they trailing behind Barrington in the area of test scores, but in attendance rates. Central has 24.6% of students dropping out while Barrington only has 1.5%. This shows that Barrington is overall, a more well put together school than Central is. Although it is not one of the worst educational institutions,it is definitely not one of the best. With that said, there are many schools in the state of Rhode Island who are performing worse than Central High School as well. Hopefully this pattern will turn around, to give these students the education they deserve. This is a substantial, sturdy school that will change completely with a few changes and tweaks to it. With the right teachers, and curriculum aspects, this school could be stellar. I personally believe that Central High School's data will only improve in the future, mainly because the faculty and students want to create a better institution. That being said, I believe within time the school will turn around for the better.
